Pastor Jim has pastored PBC for 29 years. Jim was raised in a strong Christian home in Vista, California. He received Christ as a three-year old and at the age of 12 surrendered to Christ to do whatever He wanted. This led Jim to Biola University to graduate with a BA in Biblical Studies and to Western Conservative Baptist Seminary in Portland, OR, graduating with a Master of Divinity degree. During his schooling Jim served as Jr. High youth pastor and intern at a couple of churches, as well as ministering at summer camps and on a mission’s trip. But even more significantly, he met and married his beautiful bride Lynda who serves with him in these ministries.

Upon graduating from Western in June 1985, Jim and Lynda packed up and moved here to pastor a new congregation of 30 people. They brought with them a passion for teaching Gods Word, pastoring the church, reaching youth, music, missions, and team ministry. These continue to be true today. Pastor Jim started Fisherman’s Club for Junior age children, Lynda started Butterfly Club for Primary age children, they both started and continue to minister in the Middle School Youth group and Mountain Quest for Christ (outdoor VBS) and they started the High School Youth group. Lynda serves on the church worship team. They have led several short-term mission trips with the youth and one with adults.

Under Pastor Jim’s leadership the church adopted by-laws, chose elders, bought a building to meet in, out-grew it, purchased property outside of town, and built a new facility there in 2008. But most importantly, souls have been saved and lives have been changed. Pastor Jim focuses on expositional preaching through books of the Bible. He is quick to point out that he is not perfect, but seeks to serve Lord Jesus as He enables him to, and is dependent on His grace. He is very thankful to have Student Ministries Pastor, Gavin Hutchison, who came in 2017 to help shepherd the growing church, which is about 250 people.

Pastor Jim and Lynda have two children, Jeremiah and Christina, who they love and are devoted to. Jeremiah is pursuing missions and international business, while Christina is married to a fine Christian man and is living in Idaho. Jim likes to hunt all big game (as does Lynda and Jeremiah) and enjoys participating in a variety of recreation and sports. Lynda enjoys music–playing several different instruments and singing as well as teaching in her music studio.

Student Ministries Pastor

Pastor Gavin Hutchison

Pastor Gavin joined the staff of Pinedale Bible Church in June of 2017 as the Student Ministries Pastor. He oversees all of the church’s ministries for infants through graduated seniors. Prior to joining the staff of PBC he served as the director of Golden Valley Camp, a Christian Camp in Volcano, CA.

After spending nearly 8 years working in the bicycle industry as a mechanic, sales person, manager and eventually store owner. He felt the Lord leading him into full-time ministry. He and his family made the decision to move to Virginia in order for Gavin to complete his education at Liberty University. He received a bachelor’s degree in Biblical Studies as well as a master’s degree in Christian Ministry. During his time at Liberty he served as the Youth Pastor at Grace Pointe Baptist Church and on the youth ministry team for Brentwood Church.

He is married to his wife Mandy who serves alongside of him in the Student Ministries of the church as well as leading the Mom to Mom, a fellowship for moms in all stages. They have two children Job and Micayla. They love doing things together as a family and exploring the beauty of God’s creation that surrounds us in Pinedale.
